What can I expect from a Sunday morning meeting?

Because God is the reason we gather, we never want our own scripted plans to get in the way of what He's trying to do among us. Don't come to Southlands expecting tightly followed traditions, strict schedules or predictable routines. If that means adding some unplanned songs to our worship, inviting people who want prayer to the front during the middle of a service or scrapping one sermon for another at the last minute, so be it. Usually, Sunday mornings consist of some singing, some "family time" (news and announcements) and a talk that delves into the Word of God.

We have been entirely transformed by the love of God, and are therefore expressive and exuberant in the way we demonstrate our love back to God. We may sing loudly or softly, with joyous dancing or quiet contemplation, but our worship is always directed toward Jesus, for His pleasure. You will not be forced into expressing yourself in a prescriptive or controlling way. Our times of singing are usually followed by a talk that addresses practical life and spiritual issues - relevant for those desiring to learn more about Jesus as well as those who are seasoned in their walk with God.

What should I wear?

God does not judge us according to our external appearance and therefore neither do we. We invite you to dress in a way that is comfortable and real for you. Whether that is a suit, California casual or flip-flops and beach gear, you and your family will be warmly received regardless of your dress style.

What's available for my children?

Our children are very valuable to us, and it is a high priority for us to ensure their well-being. All children are encouraged to attend worship with their families in our main gathering on the 1st  and 3rd Sundays on the month. After worship we dismiss them to their age-appropriate classes:

Sprouts for 0 to 24 months
Seedlings for 2 to 3 year olds
Saplings for 4 to 5 year olds
The Forest of the King for 6 to 12 year olds

Jr. high and high school students are encouraged to stay in with the adults.
